Open
An open meeting is an Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meeting that may be attended by anyone (e.g., judges, probation officers, professionals, family members) interested in how we have found recovery from the disease of addiction.  Verbal participation, however, is limited to NA members only.

Closed 
A closed meeting in NA is for those individuals who identify themselves as addicts or for those who are uncertain and think they might have a drug problem. ​ A closed Narcotics Anonymous meeting provides a freedom that is necessary for more personal and intimate sharing by NA members. ​

​All participants may choose to attend sessions that are centered around discussions relevant to their recovery. Such NA meeting topics usually don’t revolve around substance abuse itself​.

Speakers
​At a speaker NA meeting, a professional, a successfully recovered person, or a motivational speaker give a presentation to inspire the participants. These meetings may be open, closed, or restricted based on demographics.

This meeting focuses on studying and discussing NA Literature/Text.

​NA meetings with the 12-step study format explore one or several steps per gathering.
